Mandatory Key Skills

• Information Technology

Level 1 - G.C.S.E. equivalent G-E

Level 2 - G.C.S.E. equivalent C+ 30

Level 3 - G.C.S.E. equivalent C-B+ 60

As part of the Liverpool Post 16 entitlement all students, in all institutions, are offered to follow a course in Key Skills.

Delivery

Discreetly taught lessons, plus portfolio building.

Assessment

• Portfolio Internally assessed and Externally moderated at the end of May, like G.C.S.E.
• External tests, separate for each Key Skill:
  • Level 1 and 2 Multiple choice
  • Level 3 Extended answers

U.C.A.S. Pointing

• Level 2 10 points each Key Skill
• Level 3 20 points each Key Skill

Students may be exempt, providing they have a 'C' at G.C.S.E. in the subject area.

The Wider Key Skills

• Working with others.
• Improving one's own learning performance.
• Problem solving.

These Wider Key Skills are presently delivered through an enrichment course.

Course Entrance Requirements

No academic qualification, but recommendation from Year 11 staff based on willingness to learn, attendance and punctuality.
