Unit based Portfolio of evidence, made up of 3 COMPULSORY UNITS and 3 OPTIONAL UNITS to be chosen from a prescribed menu.

Progression

The content of these courses is designed to give the student a broad knowledge of the particular vocational areas with the skills to proceed to the Vocational 'A' Level or into employment.

Assessment procedures

• Internally assessed portfolio of evidence.
• Externally set and assessed units.
• 3 Externally set and assessed unit tests.

All parts must be completed to achieve full accreditation.

Teaching and Learning styles

Varies from didactic, to facilitating, to instruction, to role play and supported self study. Independent research and investigative skills are crucial to the success of the course. The student is expected to read widely around the subject. Group and individual tutorials will be given to help agree targets.

4 G.C.S.E's at C-A.

Course Entrance Requirements

Broadly speaking 4 'D's' at G.C.S.E. preferably in Maths and English. I.T. competence is also an advantage. There may be some leeway with

Year 11 staff recommendation.
