Each term the school has a collection for a range of charities. Students are involved in the decision as to which is the most appropriate charity and in the collection process.
All students should participate in these worthy causes.
We are pleased to be able to celebrate all religious festivals in our school.
Non-Christian festivals do sometimes occur during school time. An allowance of two days absence for such occasions is permitted without effecting pupil attendance percentage.
Shorefields has a very clear policy with regards to school dress. School uniform is worn by all students.
The uniform requirements are as follows:
All Year 8-11 students must wear the following kit:
White polo shirt, black or dark blue shorts/ P.E. skirt, white socks Polo shirt with the school’s crest is available from Kitted Out Schoolwear on Aigburth Road.
In the winter, students will be allowed to wear a dark blue or black tracksuit or sweater. This is only to be worn with the teacher’s permission. White top and shorts must be available at all times.
Long hair must be tied back securely. This is to prevent possible injury during a variety of lessons. Any item used to secure hair must be in blue, black or white.
We ask parents to co-operate fully and to ensure that their daughters and sons are dressed appropriately for school. Please note Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 students are required to wear school blazers. All new intake students are provided with a school badge. The correct year group school tie must be worn at all times.
Students should not wear any article of clothing, that is not part of school uniform, other than an outdoor coat.
Jewellery must not be worn for school with the exception of a watch and sleeper /plain stud earrings where necessary.
We ask parents to ensure that students equip themselves with a pen, pencil, ruler, pencil sharpener, eraser, ruler a number of coloured pencils and a calculator. This saves considerable time in lessons and also enables the school to spend more money on providing books and equipment. All students must bring a bag to school for personal and school equipment.
Parents are asked to ensure that each student takes proper care of school property (books, instruments, etc) on loan to them for their work. If items are lost or damaged, students will be expected to pay the full cost of the replacement so that other students do not have to go without.
Students are expected to take care in looking after their property. All clothing and property must be clearly marked with the student’s name. Money and valuables should never be left in changing rooms or off the person elsewhere. Valuables, such as iPods and large sums of money, must not be brought to school.
Mobile phones are allowed in school with specific constraints
