Physical Disputes

The school has a transparent and fair system for dealing with any dispute that may arise between students, resulting in physical aggression. Such cases are rare. In the immediate aftermath of such a problem, the parents/carers of all students involved will be contacted and the students would be expected to go home. If this proves impossible, the students will be isolated with a senior member of staff or in the Early Intervention Unit. This allows tensions to be diffused, keeps everyone safe and gives staff an opportunity to gather all relevant information to ascertain the causes. Once this has been done, the appropriate member of staff will communicate with the parent/carer in order to resolve the problem/issue. Again, this requires the school to have current contact details of all students.
