CHARITY COLLECTION

Each term the school has a collection for a range of charities. Students are involved in the decision as to which is the most appropriate charity and in the collection process. All students should participate in these worthy causes.

RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS

We are pleased to be able to celebrate all religious festivals in our school. Non-Christian festivals do sometimes occur during school time. An allowance of two days absence for such occasions is permitted without effecting pupil attendance percentage.

PRINCIPLES OF OUR SCHOOL

Duties

Detailed below are the principles which guide the staff and the students of the school as they carry out their duties.

  • We believe that school is about four main things - Hard work, Achievement, Respectability, Personal fulfilment.
  • Shorefields aims to provide an educational programme and environment which enable children to develop to their full academic and social potential.
  • The school pledges itself to be a place where children of all races and religions will find safety and respect for themselves, their families and their traditions.
  • As members of the school community, children will be expected to be honest and respect and care for others.
  • The activities and opportunities offered by the school aim to develop independent, inquiring individuals who will regard learning as a lifelong activity.
  • Understanding students as individuals should facilitate the development of their potential in all respects. Their achievements will vary, but these must be recognised inorder that the students might understand that they are valued equally.
  • Comprehensive education should be challenging to all students and the school ethos must allow the highest of expectations to be fulfilled.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is necessary for sound progress in learning, as is the acceptance of a shared community responsibility for the maintenance of good discipline.
  • Good order and high expectations are insufficient in themselves to ensure effective learning. Students should also expect to be actively involved in their education. By increasingly accepting responsibility, the students will develop the skills required of future committed citizens.

"Students behave very well, form very good relationships, and have good attitudes to work." (OFSTED Report)
