CHARITY COLLECTION

Each term the school has a collection for a range of charities. Students are involved in the decision as to which is the most appropriate charity and in the collection process. All students should participate in these worthy causes.

RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS

We are pleased to be able to celebrate all religious festivals in our school. Non-Christian festivals do sometimes occur during school time. An allowance of two days absence for such occasions is permitted without effecting pupil attendance percentage.

FACILITIES

New Outstanding Facilities

Shorefields is a single site school with outstanding facilities. A major programme of redecoration has now been completed.

  • A modern multi-purpose sports hall
  • A refurbished gymnasium with changing rooms and showers
  • Extensive playing fields and hard play area on the south side of the school
  • New technology blocks, fully equipped to deliver all aspects of the National Curriculum Design and Technology
  • A state of the art CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing) block is equipped with the latest software and machinery
  • New Textiles facilities
  • New Graphic Design rooms
  • New Drama studio
  • A large Community Hall which has a sprung floor. There are facilities for musical and dramatic productions. In addition there are refreshment and bar facilities and storage areas
  • An adjacent room and refreshment bar
  • Three new suites of superbly equipped Information and Communication Technology rooms with Internet access for all students
  • A community library containing over 8,000 volumes and incorporating a new multi media computer suite
  • Two new adjoining Art and Design rooms
  • An extensive suite of rooms on three floors which house: a new Technology block, Music rooms, a suite of large, modern, open-plan Home Technology and Fabrics rooms. There are new laboratories for the teaching of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These are serviced by technicians working from preparation rooms
  • A newly built and equipped kitchen serving the new dining room which can cater for over 300 at one time
  • A new sixth form centre and sixth form common room
  • The building work has hugely improved accessibility for students on and around the site; this includes lift access to the tower block
