Goodbye from Our Former Headteacher

2010 is a time of big changes for Shorefields. We have successfully become a National Challenge Trust, attracting considerable additional funding for the benefit of our students. We have reformed our board of governors and the new governors, along with some members of our previous board, are working hard to support us as we continue along the path to being an outstanding school.

These changes will be most manifest in September when a number of our long-serving staff are retiring. I am included in those retiring staff and I am delighted that the governors have appointed Ms. Alison Dearden to succeed me. As an experienced Headteacher, I know that Ms. Dearden will continue to take Shorefields from strength to strength.

One of Shorefields’ major attributes has always been the encouragement and backing from our students’ families and from the local community, and I am sure you will continue to give both the new Headteacher and the staff the same level of commitment to the raising of standards for all of our students.
