DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - ART TEXTILES

On Wednesday 14 th June 2006 the Year 11 Art, Art Textiles and D.T Textiles, Resistant Materials, Product Design and Graphics students held their end of course exhibition to celebrate their work.

The students were joined by staff, governors, parents and friends of the school who all enjoyed looking at the vast range of work whilst enjoying some refreshments.

The work on display was all G.C.S.E. coursework and Controlled Test pieces in the case of Art and Art Textiles work. The work consisted of a timer for racing pigeons to a handmade shoe, so the range was quite diverse. The Textiles groups had produced magnificent bags which would not have been out of place on the pages of Vogue Magazine. The Art textiles students produced a range of work on subjects such as allotments, cakes and pastries and under sea life which all had to feature tactile qualities. The results were pretty amazing. Some other students looked at the work of fashion designers such as John Galliano and produced some "off the wall" accessories on the theme of Egyptian Art.

This was the first time an exhibition of Year 11 work has been held, it proved to be such a success we aim to make it an annual event.
