YEAR 9 AND 10 FORENSIC SCIENCE TALK

On Thursday 18th of March a group of pupils from the year 9 and 10 science Btec classes attended a talk by two forensic scientists from the Merseyside police crime labs. The talk included information on collecting evidence from a crime scene, how to analyse fingerprints and the qualifications needed to work as a forensic scientist. The pupils gave questionnaires to the speakers which will help them with their coursework assignments. All pupils involved were a credit to the school and would like to thank the guests for the opportunity to learn about forensic science.

Read reports by the pupils:

"We found out that you have the same fingerprints all of your life, until you die!"

  • Amal Hassan and Floriane Alla Koffi - Year 10

"I found out alot of things I didn’t know before the talk. I thought it was very interesting and would like to do it again."

  • Andrew Jones - Year 10

  • Sakar Devkota - Year 9

"I found out that wherever you go you leave something behind like hair, nails, blood, fingerprints and footprints. I thought the man and woman that visited our school were lovely and very interesting."

  • Jessica Strange - Year 9

"We were told that you need 5 A-C GCSEs to become a fingerprint expert and that your fingerprints develop when you are in the womb and you keep them for life."
