BTEC IN CHILD CARE!

For the first time this year students from year 11 and 12 have been given the opportunity to study a BTEC in Child care at Shorefields. An essential part of the course is a work placement at local nursery providers. The year 11 students will work from Oct 26th till Easter one afternoon a week and the year 12 students two full days.

To ensure that the whole process is as close to a “real experience” the students had to write a letter of application and attend a formal interview. The external interviewer was full of praise for all the students. She commented that the standard of presentation, manners and clarity of answers was excellent. She felt it was a very difficult job to rank the candidates’ as so many students had performed admirably.

Eventually she chose the top four students from each year group. To continue the real experience and reward endeavour these students have been given the opportunity to choose where they go on placement.
