SHOREFIELDS SUCCESS AT THE CAN COOK, WILL COOK EVENT!

‘Can Cook, Will Cook’ is an event (competition) set up by the Five Families Trust in Partnership with South Liverpool PCT/Taste for Health.  It aims to instil healthy eating habits and encourage the enjoyment of both cooking and food.

The aim of the competition is for each team (8 in total this year from across Merseyside) to cook 3 dishes, of good presentation and taste, against the other teams within a set time.

Thursday 5th saw Shorefields’ Year11 team compete in their 1st heat against Calderstones’ 6th Form.

It was a very exciting evening with both teams demonstrating high levels of competition, effort, performance and outstanding professional behaviour - the five panel members (the judges from different initiatives) had a tough job in deciding the winning team.

At the end of the night, the three teams and their dishes were assessed.
Shorefields won the heat 2 dishes to 1.

Well done Shorefields!

The semi-finals will take place at Shorefields in December.

The winning team will demonstrate their culinary skills for 200 of their friends and guests at a prestigious Gala event in Jan 2009
And win a weekend away at Nick Nairn’s Cookery school, Stirling, Scotland.
