CHARITY CHRISTMAS CARDS

Year 7 students raised money from making Christmas cards. 7B raised over £31, 7.2 over £40. Monies were sent to Oxfam and the British heart Foundation, who then wrote to the school.

Here are letters sent by our students to Oxfam:

Letter 1

I choose Oxfam because I know that there are Wars going on in Africa and drugs and all of the things and that there are diseases But everyone should have something to eat and the right to go to school I hope that Africa is going be a safer place to live for children And I hope that it is going to be a peaceful place

Yours Sincerely
Mario Lakatos

Letter 2

My name is Mohamed Ahmed. I am 11 years old. I go to Shorefields Technology College. Before Christmas our year group made Christmas cards to sell to Staff and students. Our class (7B) raised £31.977. One card was 50p each.

We have chosen this charity because we would like to help children who are vulnerable

Yours Sincerely
Mohamed Ahmed

Letter 3

To whom this may concern, Tutor group 7.2 would like to donate the sum of £60 to your charity to support the good work you do for those with heart problems.

The year 7’s at Shorefields decided to make and sell Christmas cards to raise money for charity. It was a competition between each tutor group to see how much money could be raised. We sold our Christmas cards at 50p each and 7.2 won managing to make £42, therefore we were given the choice of charities to donate the money.

Within our tutor group there was strong feelings towards this charity as many have suffered pain from losing a loved one due to Heart problems.

We hope our contribution towards your charity helps in some way.

Yours sincerely
7.2 Tutor Group

Here is the letter received by the school:

Thank you most warmly for your kind donation raised from designing, making and selling Christmas cards.....Your generosity will play a vital role in our fight against heart disease.....we rely on donations large and small from people like you..........you are doing more than just giving to charity, you are saving lives.

Shorefields' next charity event will be on April 3rd when students and staff will take part in a fun run to raise money, and we will be holding belated Red Nose events on the same day.
