See Our Students' Success
Friday 10th March saw the school open it's door to over 450 Year 5 students from sixteen primary schools. The day gave these young people an opportunity to get a real taste of what being in a secondary school is really like.
The students had three one-hour lessons from the full range of subjects taught in the school. They also experienced the canteen, break and lunchtime activities as well as two assemblies. The day will hopefully take some of the anxiety away from having to move from primary to secondary school. "We understand that many of the young people that visited the school today will not be Shorefields students in the future. Today is all about helping students in their transition to secondary school. Moving school is a difficult step to take, if we can make it a little less stressful then the day has been a success". Said Mr Charnock.
All of the students went away from the school in a very positive mood.
"The day was great, I made a letter stand in DT. It was brilliant" St Malachey's student.
" I thought the school was brilliant, I loved the ICT lesson" Lawrence Road student.
"The Gym is massive- fantastic!" Matthew Arnold student.
The school would like to thank the 30 junior school staff that accompanied their students on the day and all of those schools that took part and made the day a success.
