Careers - The World of Work
Careers Education forms part of the PSHE course and tutorial work and specific units deal with the decisions which students need to take in choosing courses as well as giving background to the world of work. All students go on to work experience in their final year.
The Careers Officer comes to school frequently and parents are invited to attend the interview given to each student in year 11. For Post 16 students there is a separate programme of guidance and work sampling at an appropriate level.
THE CURRICULUM - ICT
Our Aims and Objectives
The main aims of Shorefields School Information Communication Technology (ICT) Strategy are to exploit ICT in order to:
- enhance the learning experience of students
- improve teaching methods and standards
- facilitate better management and administration practices
- to assist in the development of a more ICT literate community.
In pursuit of these aims, the following objectives have been set:
- to advise the Senior Management Team on the strategic direction and distribution of school funds for the establishment of an Information and Communication Technology infrastructure
- to establish standards for student and staff access to ICT
- to develop robust systems for the management of teaching and learning for ICT
- to establish partnerships with local business, the local authority, schools and community groups to assist with maximising the potential for ICT
- to link with national strategies to maximise the use of ICT for the development of learning
- to keep pace with the development of internet-enabled information and learning resources.
