CHARITY COLLECTION

Each term the school has a collection for a range of charities. Students are involved in the decision as to which is the most appropriate charity and in the collection process.

All students should participate in these worthy causes.

RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS

We are pleased to be able to celebrate all religious festivals in our school.

Non-Christian festivals do sometimes occur during school time. An allowance of two days absence for such occasions is permitted without effecting pupil attendance percentage.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Rights and Responsibility

Respect other people, their beliefs and their property. Listen carefully and follow all instructions. Work hard without disturbing others. Walk around the school sensibly and quietly on the left. Full school uniform is always to be worn. Bring a bag containing the correct equipment to all lessons. Always arrive on time:- be in the right place at the right time. Chewing gum is banned. No eating or drinking except at break-times and lunch-times.

Remember... You are responsible for Your Actions!

Everyone at Shorefields will feel safe, secure, fulfilled and be challenged to maximise their potential. Everyone will have a clear sense of worth and place in society. The school is committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our students so that they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere.

We seek to ensure that:

All students are healthy; all students are safe; all students enjoy school and achieve to the best of their ability; all students make a positive contribution to the school and all students understand how to make a positive economic contribution.

Attendance and Punctuality

Students should be at school, on time for assembly or tutor period, every day the school is open, unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.

  • Attendance at school directly impacts on progress and success Good punctuality is vital in terms of realising potential. It is essential in terms of preparation for adulthood and the World of Work.
  • Attendance is at the heart of the school’s standards and Every Child Matters.

Staying Safe

All teachers will ensure that students learn in a supportive, safe and caring environment without fear of being bullied. Bullying is anti-social behaviour and affects everyone. We will continue to work to create an environment in which our students can talk with a trusted adult and will be listened to, their concerns taken seriously and addressed.

Students should take action to feel SAFE

Stand against any behaviour which is deliberately hurtful, is repeated over time and make you feel defenceless. Do not get aggressive or violent. Rise above the bully's tactics.

All teachers are here to support you. They have the power to stop the bully if you cannot. They can't read your minds though! If you want them to help you, you really need to tell them.

Fear of bullying getting worse is not a good reason to keep it to yourself. The problem will grow if you are silent. You have a chance of stopping it if you tell a friend or teacher.

Everyone has the right to feel happy and secure at this school. No-one has the right to make you feel unhappy. Be kind and offer help if you know someone is being bullied. The longer you leave it, the worse it gets
